CENTERPIECES ON A BUDGET
Mar 28, 2007 PLANNING YOUR TABLE FLOWERS ON A BUDGET
Sharon & I had a lot of fun with the budget wedding flower theme today. Who isn’t on a budget! All the ideas used today are under $15.00 some even less per arrangement. Get creative and you will be surprised how inexpensively you can create your wedding table flower .
The best advice I have is to keep it simple. Don’t overdo it. Simplicity is definitely the key to elegance. You can do a touch of this and a touch of that, and it goes a lot farther than you might think. You don’t want the theme on everything.
Here are some ideas for inexpensive and not so traditional wedding centerpieces and some traditional:
• Balloons
• Baskets of artificial flowers
• Birdcages
• Bowls of fruit
• Board games and puzzles( these work well for children’s tables
• Candles with artificial greenery
• Cards received prior to the wedding
• Champagne buckets
• Dishes of personalized chocolates or other candies
• Fish bowls
• Glass bowls with floating candles
• Hurricane Globes with sand and seashells
• Old books and maps
• Pens and journals for guests to write their good wishes
• Placemats featuring artwork from the couple
• Potted plants
• Scrapbooks of the couple’s childhoods
• Straw hats-ranch themes are also popular
• Wooden hearts and love poems
To save even more money, you might want to consider having the centerpieces that will serve a double purpose. For example, the personalized chocolates could serve as wedding favors, while strawberries dipped in chocolate could works as a pre or a post dinner treat. Another trend is to have small cakes on every table at centerpieces, ,which the guests can then eat at their leisure. Making each cake different and smaller and with various flavored cakes-you’re sure to offer something that will suit every tongue. Guests will enjoy comparing and sharing cake flavors.
Be creative and honest with yourself about your budget and what you would like. Again, simply is ok. Pick one or two of your favorite flowers and stay with it. Bouquets of all one type of simple flowers are very popular and it helps keep the price in check. Using simple candles with sea shells or beads add casualness and fill the table up.
Themes that are popular right now are enchanted garden and Victorian themes. Monograms are also common because it personalizes the wedding for a couple. The Indian color them with vibrant pinks, oranges and reds are quite popular also.
If you have questions about the items you saw on WCSH6 this morning, drop me an email or give a call and we can talk about your ideas-no cost or obligations.
